I painstakingly went back and forth with the Martin Custom Shop over every single spec in order to get the best instruments at the best possible price.

''Snowflake'', the Make'n Music exclusive, Martin Custom Shop D-28 Limited Edition is based on an actual vintage, 1954 D-28 conversion we had come through the shop. The original guitar was in rough shape when it came in and needed some serious work. Martin was kind enough to refurbish it with a fresh Adirondack Spruce Top, Forward-Shifted Scalloped Bracing, Hide Glue and Waverly tuners to give it more of a Pre-War "Golden Era" sound with the comfort and playability of a post-war Era guitar. I was so pleased with the results that I designed and ordered this special run in the same style but with a few additional tweaks.

Why is it called ''Snowflake''? The original vintage Martin D-28 this series is based on had a strap button hole on the back of the headstock. Martin wanted to plug the hole and we decided a ''45-style'' abalone snowflake would offer the most elegant solution to an ugly problem. Each one of these Limited Edition D-28 guitars features an Abalone snowflake on the back of the headstock- Just like the original

These guitars are loud and incredible sounding! The TONE is RICH, WARM & FULL with plenty of MID-RANGE PUNCH and SWEET TOP-END. Currently, there are two models in the current Martin lineup that would compete with the features of these Custom Shop D-28 1954 Limited Edition guitars. The first is the Authentic Series D-28 1941 Museum Edition which retails for $14,999. The second is the Limited Edition D-28 1955 CFM IV which streets for $540 more than this guitar and does not even have the Adirondack top & bracing. Which one is the best deal? You make the call.
