Custom Boutique Acoustic Guitar
Red Cedar Top w/ Mahogany Back and Sides
The Original Series recapitulates what Maestro is all about – making boutique handmade instruments accessible off-the-rack. Handmade in small batches using select materials, these guitars are available in variety of shapes and wood combinations and are voiced differently by Hozen to bring out what would be the signature Maestro sound – responsive, rich in overtones, with defined basses and crystal-like thick trebles. Accompanying the Maestro sound is its iconic look – a coherent minimalist design across the entire line.
This particular guitar is a Raffles SJ model which is a Small Jumbo sized acoustic with a 15.5” lower bout and 4.3” body depth. It is constructed with a Red Cedar top, Maphogany back and sides, Advanced Hybrid Bracing and features trademark Maestro appointments such as the Grit Laskin-style Beveled Armrest, and side Soundport. The tone is clear and precise with a pleasant intricacy to each note. The neck is slim and comfortably shaped with a nice, even taper. Satin Finish!

The Maestro brand was founded by luthier Ho Zen Yong – known simply as “Hozen” – with the vision of offering high quality boutique acoustic instruments for the best possible value. Since then, Maestro Guitars has evolved into one of the leading makers of premium guitars and ukuleles in the world. Hozen’s lifelong commitment to making fine, hand-crafted instruments more accessible began at a young age. His family were the first piano builders in Singapore. Hungry to bring Maestro guitars to the next level, Hozen studied under renowned luthier Ervin Somogyi and underwent PLEK training with the legendary Joe Glaser, who was also instrumental in developing the team’s eye for detail.
Every Maestro exudes a commitment to making fine boutique instruments more accessible. Handmade by a small team of experienced luthiers, all Maestro instruments are built from hand-selected tone woods and individually voiced by Hozen, ensuring that each is exceptional in terms of tone and craftsmanship.
