It looks awesome (great color!) and is a truly fantastic sounding and excellent playing, player’s grade vintage guitar. It’s also super lightweight at only 6.4lbs. Just a joy to play for hours on end. The neck is the typical, slim ’61 carve with the usual 1 - 11\/16” nut width.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe guitar is essentially all original – Two great sounding P-90 Pickups, all four Pots, Switch, Harness, Tuners, Plastics, etc… all correct. However, a few details have been changed and repaired... It was originally fitted with a Maestro Vibrola which has been removed and is not included. It was not the typical long or short style, but the less common VBM one (I don’t know the exact name of that). Regardless, most people prefer not to have it and if you absolutely must I am sure it can be sourced online. The wraparound bridge is also not original - it is an aged, lightweight Tone Pros reproduction. The studs are not Tone Pros but they are also not original to the guitar. It has been refretted with taller wire, which are or are similar to a 6105, and really feel great. The headstock has also been repaired and the finish touched up in that area, as well as some light overspray over the entire guitar (when I say light, I mean very light - so light you could probably buff it out and not notice, as even the original fine checking is all present and comes through). There also appears to be a repair to the body around the electronics cavity area, but this is not super noticeable unless you really look hard. All repairs are stable and seem to have been done long ago. Other than that, dings, dents and checking throughout, but nothing else serious.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIncluded is the impossibly rare, brown chipboard case with a replacement handle. It was originally finished in TV Yellow from the factory, but has been refinished and aged by RS Guitarworks in a beautiful Tobacco Sunburst. Many upgrade and aftermarket parts have been fitted as well, including a Mojoaxe Wraparound bridge for improved intonation, RETROSPEC vintage-length studs, RETROSPEC knobs, Luxe Bees capacitors, a Lindy Fralin Noiseless P-90 pickup, RS Pots and a Bone Nut. The neck has also been reprofiled to a more comfrotable and vintage accurate spec. The hand-made pickups sound fantastic – The are EVO 3 models which are custom wound AlNiCo surface mount singles. The bridge is a blade and neck pickup is pole piece version. In fact all the components including the killer pickup covers and bridge\/tailpiece are handmade. It has a chambered body constructed from Poplar with a Douglas Fir top, and a 3-piece Maple neck with AAA grade Wenge fingerboard. The combination of these woods very much complement each other tonally and the sound can shift from jazz, blues and all points beyond with no problem.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis special order guitar was requested with a Gold Top finish, so it was given the name “Wonka Bar\". What’s so special about the Wonka Bar you ask? While there were lots and lots of these chocolate bars produced in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, very few had a golden ticket hidden inside. This guitar is one of a kind, so also very rare, just like a Golden Ticket! In addition to the finish, the Elmer Wonka Bar has taken a few other cues from the story too - Note the purple top hat. This is a nod to Mr. Wonka himself. This is a headless model features a body crafted from a 2000 year old piece of Redwood heart wood from the Bohemian Grove (pretty cool - google that for more info) and a very special piece of solid Guatemalan Rosewood for the neck. It also features the new machined bridge but will also fit Steinberger Trans-Trem and S-Trem bridges. 2 humbucker, Volume\/Tone\/3-way selector. The frets have a golden color which indicates that they are EVO wire which is hard and long lasting. The fingerboard radius is conical - about 14\" - 15.5\". The neck profile is extremely comfortable. I detect the softest hint of a \"V\" in the first position which transitions to an even smoother, rounded profile as you move up the neck. The dimensions are approximately .845\" - .955'. This instrument is truly a joy to play. Light, loud, lively and extremely resonant. The weight is 5.4lbs. It doesn’t get much better. This is a headless model features a body crafted from a 2000 year old piece of Redwood heart wood from the Bohemian Grove (pretty cool - google that for more info) and a very special piece of solid Guatemalan Rosewood for the neck. It also features the new machined bridge but will also fit Steinberger Trans-Trem and S-Trem bridges. 2 humbucker, Volume\/Tone\/3-way selector. The frets have a golden color which indicates that they are EVO wire which is hard and long lasting. The fingerboard radius is conical - about 14\" - 15.5\". The neck profile is extremely comfortable. I detect the softest hint of a \"V\" in the first position which transitions to an even smoother, rounded profile as you move up the neck. The dimensions are approximately .845\" - .955'. This instrument is truly a joy to play. Light, loud, lively and extremely resonant. The weight is 5.4lbs. It doesn’t get much better. This is NOT the ''LC'' version (with laminated construction like the original vintage Gibson guitars, instead it has the chambered solid Mahogany back and SOLID carved Maple top). Every detail of these Collings instruments is perfect- from the workmanship to the playability and tone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCosmetically speaking the Collings I-35 Deluxe is a truly beautiful instrument. It has that classic, vintage look. But upon closer examination all the things that make a Collings Guitar a true work of functional musical art become apparent. The fit and finish is flawless, the fretwork is perfect, even inside the F holes everything is neat and tidy. Is this necessary to the functionality or tone of an electric guitar? Like all Collings instruments, this guitar is a work of beauty- Especially the DLX model with Ivoroid Binding throughout - including Knobs and Pickup rings, Parallelogram Inlays, Tiger Eye finish and STUNNING Quilted Maple top. This is NOT the ''LC'' version (with laminated construction like the original vintage Gibson guitars, instead it has the chambered solid Mahogany back and SOLID carved Maple top). Every detail of these Collings instruments is perfect- from the workmanship to the playability and tone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCosmetically speaking the Collings I-35 Deluxe is a truly beautiful instrument. It has that classic, vintage look. But upon closer examination all the things that make a Collings Guitar a true work of functional musical art become apparent. The fit and finish is flawless, the fretwork is perfect, even inside the F holes everything is neat and tidy. Is this necessary to the functionality or tone of an electric guitar?
