The V-40's rhythm channel has a spongy, sensitive touch and offers bold, clean Fender-type tones with plenty of bottom end straight off the bat. As you dial the drive knob towards 12 o'clock it goes quickly from country clean to a gritty blues rhythm, which responds brilliantly with single-coil-equipped guitars and has a squashy, American tonality characterized by those 6V6s - it's like you're squeezing the notes out of the amp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003ePushing the Rhythm control further take you from blues clean to AC\/DC mean. There's ample gain for rock or heavy rock players who need more hair and fizz around the edges, though it retains the cut and attack of a cleaner tone. The drive channel is certainly a beast. Even with medium gain, we get an injection of thudding, gig-ready volume and relentless attack. Maxing the Drive puts you firmly in the classic rock camp - for screaming modern rock or metal, Budda's Super Drive 45 Series II might be a better option. The V-40, however, delivers anything from thunderous Zeppelin rock rhythms to Cream or Peter Green wailing solos. The Thick control operates best as a lead enhancer; when it's engaged your solos will bulldoze through a band mix. The “R” in “RD Series” stands for “Reverb”, and the built-in reverb has anti-shock “Z” spring delay, a genuine advantage over long springs when running high power. The reverb can be adjusted with a front panel control, and turned On\/Off via Footswitch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe “D” in “RD Series” stands for “Distortion”. Five controls (two sets of Gain and Volume controls, and a footswitch that selects between them) let you dial in precisely the amount of distortion you want… from a clean, well-defined sound, to a gentle warmth when you play hard, to an all-out raucous rock and roll sound. You can adjust the Gain for more distortion, and then turn down the Volume to keep the power level where you want it. Based on one of the hardest-rocking amps ever made – The classic Marshall Plexi - the Bogner Helios 50 tube amplifier gives up plenty of high-octane tone. It's an aggressive, yet surprisingly versatile two-channel amp that covers the ground of vintage Marshall Plexi through the various incarnations and hot-rodded \/ modified versions of that amp. Separate \"Plexi\" and \"Hot\" inputs help make this happen. The Plexi input gives Plexi-style gain on channel two and an ultra-clean channel one. The “Hot” input gives a hot-rodded high gain structure on channel two, with a \"clean to Plexi\" gain range on channel one. A three-position voicing switch gives access to brighter or darker settings while an EQ Bypass switch sends the preamp tone full-bore to the power amp section for open, in-your-face, boosted tone. Based on one of the hardest-rocking amps ever made – The classic Marshall Plexi - the Bogner Helios 50 tube amplifier gives up plenty of high-octane tone. It's an aggressive, yet surprisingly versatile two-channel amp that covers the ground of vintage Marshall Plexi through the various incarnations and hot-rodded \/ modified versions of that amp. Separate \"Plexi\" and \"Hot\" inputs help make this happen. The Plexi input gives Plexi-style gain on channel two and an ultra-clean channel one. The “Hot” input gives a hot-rodded high gain structure on channel two, with a \"clean to Plexi\" gain range on channel one. A three-position voicing switch gives access to brighter or darker settings while an EQ Bypass switch sends the preamp tone full-bore to the power amp section for open, in-your-face, boosted tone. Another handy feature is the effects loop which can also be used as a boost- Just use a guitar cable to connect (jumper) the send to the return, then use the effects level control to dial in the amount of boost you want. There is also a Bottom control and Punch switch on the back panel that essentially controls how loose or tight the low frequency response of the amp sounds.
