The condition overall is extremely nice. The natural high gloss finish on the body and neck is original and in excellent shape. Only some small dings and dents here and there from use, but no major signs of damage or repairs. It was not heavily used over the last 50 years and it was extremely well cared for. We just had it setup and adjusted and it plays and sounds great.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThere are some modifications, so I will start with those. The guitar was routed for humbuckers at some point (if you don't see photos of this here please check Make'n Music the website) but it currently sports a replacement pickguard wired up with a set of excellent sounding Fender Custom Shop ’69 pickups which are hand-inscribed and dated “AY” (Abigail Ybarra) “3-29-11”. The pots and wiring, along with the pickup covers, knobs and switch tip are recent. The trem springs currently installed are also recent, but 3 additional springs which could be original, as well as a trem cavity cover plate (with lots of crusty stuff on it) are included in the case. Other than those modifications, the guitar appears to be all original – Finish, Hardware, Frets, even the Case, etc… The neck feels fantastic – it’s a medium \/ chunky “C” profile typical for the era. If it wasn’t for the pickup swap this would be an exceptional, collector grade vintage instrument. However, due to those changes it is priced like a true player’s piece even though the appearance is stunning and beautiful. If you are looking for a great deal on a real deal vintage 1972 Fender Stratocaster then this is the guitar for you!
