Make'n Music is happy to have this used Collings D2HA for sale! This is an oustanding guitar at an outstanding price! It's in immaculate condition- almost no evidence of being played at all. Maybe only the slightest hints of superfical picks marks, cosmetics, etc... but you would really have to look hard and under intense light. No dings, dents, wear, damage, repairs, etc... This thing is clean. Collector owned and played only. The tone is absolutely incredible. Massive, Rich, Punchy, Sweet and Balanced. Sometimes these new Collings guitars, which are known for being incredibly clear and consitent, are also a bit "tight" or "boxy" when new. Not the case here- This guitar is just starting to open up and man does it sound great. I imagine the more it's played the better it will get. Not woofy at all- Just full, crispt and clear with a balanced, powerful low end that matches perfectly the bell like treble and warm, sweet mids.
This Collings D2H is loaded up with some incredible options- The Varnish Finish for one- This is an almost $2000 upgrade in an of itself. It really adds to the tone of the guitar- Giving it a top end sweetness and more open sound. The sunburt top is also rich an elegant. Its made from Adirondack Spruce (another $1000 upgrade) which address punch, volume, tone and more tone. Adirondack Spruce has a higher strength to weight ratio than Sitka or other Spruces, so you can get a more powerful sound with a lighter piece of wood. That translates to a very lively instrument. One of the first things you notice about this guitar (after it's stunning looks) is how light, loud and lively it feels against your body.
Additional costmetic upgrades and details that really top off the whole packages are Ivoroid binding- Including the fingerboard and headstock, as well as a set of hand-engraved, Gold Waverly tuning machines.
The dreadnought is the most popular acoustic guitar body-style in the world. Collings is not the first to build them, but they bring a new level of tonal clarity to this large, deep-bodied instrument. The D2H is ideal for vocal accompaniment due to it's full bass response and Bluegrass Flatpickers love it for it's ability to cut through the mix and compete with banjos and fiddles. Collings uses only the highest quality materials and the D2H, like all their guitars, is built to the tightest tolerances. Each one is voiced individually to give you a clear, full and balanced representation of the D-style Rosewood/Spruce guitar.
Like all our used / vintage gear this has been tested for functionality and priced to move. Sold as-is. What you see is what you get. Comes wiht the original hardshell case.

This guitar sounds absolutely fantastic. It's lightweight, loud and alive. It just breathes as if it has been played for 50 years- Imagine how it will sound after it opens up! The tone is a little more vintage-like than most D2H models. It still has the clear, balanced voice Collings are known for, but more sweetness. I attribute this to the Varnish finish.
Collings guitars are the absolute finest built instruments in the world.
